We had a fairly busy day today. Some of the ladies from my MOPs group planned to meet up at story time at the library, so Isaiah and I headed up, too. We got there early and he was soon going up and down rows of books, looking for ones with trucks, dogs, trains or dinosaurs on the covers. (A combination of all four would have been best.)
When it was time for the story time to start, Isaiah was too shy to sit on the floor with the other kids, so he sat on my lap. He seemed to really like the stories and didn’t wiggle or make noise. After the stories, they had a craft and snacks for the kids. Isaiah thought that was a pretty great deal! He loved working on his paper scarecrow and watching the other kids. When the librarian handed out scarecrow cookies, he went straight for the candy corn nose. He never did eat the rest of the cookie…
We checked out some books and headed for home. When we got there, we found out that my mom had to run errands and decided to tag along. While we were out anyway, we stopped at the lake so Isaiah could play. He loves the geese and wanted to get close to them. Today, they were out on the water, so he couldn’t ever quite get to them. Not that he didn’t try.
We went out on the dock so Isaiah could get a closer look at the geese. He thought that was pretty exciting! He cheered and leaned out through the rails to get even closer. There was so much to see. Soon, the dock was too limiting for Isaiah and we headed back to the shore. He raced around by the edge of the water. The geese came to the edge briefly and Isaiah tried to go after them.
Isaiah and I had a fun time playing while we were at the lake. He loves to chase and be chased. He also adores playing peek-a-boo any chance he gets. We used a tree for him to hide behind and peek around. He had so much fun! He probably would have kept playing all day if we hadn’t needed to go home.
On our way home, we stopped at a little park with a fun play ground for smaller kids. Isaiah had fun climbing and going down the slides. He even went down by himself a couple times. He sat in a swing for a few minutes, then decided that he needed to run wild again. By the time we finally headed home, he was exhausted. Maybe he’ll sleep well tonight.
